For My Husband: An Open Letter

I know that sometimes you feel as though the weight of the world is on your shoulders. No, scratch that. On your pinky toe. Cause that hurts more!

In a world that pushes women to rely on themselves and not to let the strength of a man to be more than theirs, I want you to know that I wouldn’t be standing so tall today without you. My head would be lowered and my ego would be lessened and I’m not afraid to admit that. You have helped to build me up so much in these 6 years.

I say this as I am fighting back tears in this Starbucks, because I realize that before you, I never felt like I fit anywhere. Not in school, in the workplace, in my family. I’ve always felt like I was that puzzle piece that never seemed to fit, no matter how many times you turned it or tried to force it into place. I always thought to myself, maybe I was placed (or placed myself) in the wrong puzzle box. Now that I’ve found you, I feel like I’m the perfect fit. Everywhere I go. Like you were the other part of that puzzle piece needed to complete the picture. It just needed to be taped back together.

Taped up by God’s love and an unbreakable covenant that we entered in with Him just three months ago as husband and wife.

My husband Franklin and I, cutting our wedding cake.

You have shown me that I had always belonged in that puzzle box. You just brought out things that I always had in me and didn’t even know it.

Through you, God has shown me how much He loves me.

Because of you, I’ve learned to seek God and to see God in everything and in everyone. And for that I am eternally grateful.

I just want to thank you for your love, your patience with me, for your discernment, and for your leadership. I want to thank you for your drive, your ambition, and your inspiration. For always pushing yourself to the limit, even if that means busting your butt working until 5 and 6 AM, regardless of how much I hate it. I know that you’re doing it, not just for you, but for me too. And for the family that we’ve been praying to one day have together.

I am SO looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together, until Heaven + Earth passes over.

I love you forever,

Your Wife.

    Love it!
I can’t wait to be able to write ‘An open letter to my husband’ (I’d probably keep it offline though😁)
