How Marriage Can Change You As A Person

Marriage can and will change you as a person in a remarkable way.

Marriage Chasity and Franklin

Married life is such an amazing thing! It challenges you in ways that you never thought imaginable and makes you see how you truly are as a person. If you don’t want to see yourself for who you really are (flaws and all) and develop the desire and the will to improve upon them DAILY, don’t get married! lol! It will reveal to you your true levels of patience, compassion, and commitment. And more than likely, it will show you that you are not as good a person as you think you are. (Which is always the case, because there’s always room for improvement. For all of us.)

You know that scripture that says that you should not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but with sober judgement… marriage will sober you up if you let it. lol! It’s seriously the greatest thing ever!

And I haven’t been married for long by any means and would never consider myself an expert in relationships and marriage, but I know that marriage works when you don’t focus on the flaws of your spouse, but on the development of yourself.

It’s not about falling in or out of love nor about how much you do that. It’s about choosing to love your spouse DAILY and acting in ways that show that you choose to love your spouse… In every THING… THROUGH every thing. Because love is not a feeling, love is a CHOICE.

My husband (read my open letter to him here!)has helped build me up in so many ways and this marriage is helping me become a better person, a better wife, and a better friend through and through!

I pray every day that God keeps his hand on our marriage and continues to develop us in ways that are inconceivable!

This is so true! I am also a newlywed, and it sure is an eye-opener.

Beautiful post! I’m not married, not even close lol. But we hear so much about the ‘negatives’ of marriage in today’s society that it’s so refreshing for someone to be real and share both sides! God bless 💙

I loved how easy to read your piece was. I have never been married but I have lived with a man and I feel everything your saying. I am sure marriage is different because you guys have committed to each other. I’m happy that you are learning so much in your marriage!
